Sandra Huller is ROSE, but first appears on screen as a he, a former soldier in the Thirty Years War who arrives in a small deeply Protestant German village carrying a document proving his inheritance of a local farm. Facially scarred by a bullet wound, hardworking and brave, he wins the locals over with acts that only a man in that age could possibly do. It's not until she is married off to a local girl in an arrangement she cannot refuse that the deception, starts to unravel.
