About the Event
Locally produced and greater Qld short film night featuring The Gorge/Unsung Heroes/ Annaliese and Good Times and That's Okay.
The Gorge is a drama-thriller and was produced and shot on location on the Sunshine Coast this year. Directed by Ryan Butler, it was produced and written by Terence M Young whose feature film 500 Miles we screened back in 2017. In the Gorge a grieving woman and her friends must survive a night in the woods when an unseen force begins to hunt them. But not is all as it seems. It has high end production values and shows the experience of its makers in both story and finishing.
Good Times and That's Okay is a film about a 70-year-old closeted woman who has to confront her faith as she learns what true love is from a sex worker named Destiny. It has screened at St Kilda, Cambridge and Dead Centre Film Festivals and is written, directed and produced by Amanda Kaye, a Brisbane based film maker who is shooting her 1st feature film this October. She has made 4 short films and graduated from Griffith Film Scholl with honours and this film displays her talents as a writer director with impressive ease.
Unsung Heroes is a documentary film from Kenny Waterson about 3 passionate individuals at the Caloundra Football Club who have dedicated themselves to its survival and committed themselves to its success. Kenny has a keen eye for detail and nuance and is sympathteic with his subjects creating a film that is compelling and entertaining. We screened Kenny's pervious short film Pure Imagination last year which made various other festivals across the country too.
Annaleise is a film from Aaron Lenden about a troubled couple driving through the Glasshouse Mountains who learn more about themselves and their relationship than they expected. Aaron is an emerging Screenwriter/Director & Creative Producer based on the Sunshine Coast. Passionate about the visual art of storytelling, he explores narratives of the human condition. In 2022, Aaron was accepted into a Directors Pathway Program through Screen QLD and Screenworks. He currently has a short film in Development which he expects to shoot early 2024.
