Malena Alterio won numerous awards for her perfromance here as Lucia whose uneventful life as an IT specialist in Madrid is upended when the company goes into a tailspin. The first deception she has to deal with. In desperation for work, she takes on a job as a Taxi Driver and yes, there are echoes here of Robert De Niro and that cinematic epic.
She meets a series of colourful people, including theatre producer Roberta, and flirty journalist Ricardo who are not entirely sincere about their true intentions with her. Nor is the actor Braulio whom she meets and who shares an obsesession with the Turandot aria Nessun Dorma. They share more than that-but then he disappears.
