This incredible film, winner of 10 German Film Awards is structured non-linearly and follows four main characters, Alma, Erika, Angelika and Lena as they live their lives on the same farm. Though separated by differing time periods their lives begin to mirror each other
Set on the same farmstead in the Altmark region , it shifts between four different time periods, 1910's , 1940's, 1980's and 2020's, where gestures, conversations, and situations recur over time. The Altmark region is nestled between the Elbe and Havel rivers and is sometimes referred to as the 'cradle of Prussia'. Prussia as region of Germany was outlawed by the occupation forces after the war.
